Did you know that the Granny Smith is a tip-bearing apple cultivar, which originated in Australia in 1868. It is named after Maria Ann Smith, who propagated the cultivar from a chance seedling. The tree is thought to be a hybrid of Malus sylvestris, the European wild apple.
You don’t hear about green apples quite often as you hear about those common red apples. Green apples are as healthy as the red ones. However, they are a little sour and sweet in taste. Green apples have a lot of health and beauty benefits to offer. They are packed with nutrients, fiber, minerals and vitamins that are good for the overall health. Green apples are known to offer relief from digestive disorders and are also very effective in lowering blood cholesterol and BP, stabilizing blood sugar levels & improving appetite
Green apple and almond smoothie
- 1 green apple
- 1 banana
- 2 large kale leaves
- 1/2 a lemon
- 1/2 inch piece ginger
- 1/4 cup raw full almonds
- 1 tbs hemp seeds
- 1 cup water
Place all ingredients into a high-speed blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Enjoy!
Note: this smoothie was not too sweet, add more banana if you like it extra sweet.
